I love you because it makes me feel good

Until very recently, I couldn't make much sense out of Tara. I didn't understand why, after Corsica, she waited for Don for as long as she did - it was only a handful days, yes she had the time of her life with him, they were strangers role-playing in the middle of nowhere, and in their emptiness, they gave each other the chance to be full of things they never knew existed within their insides. But don't you tend to forget and move on over someone when you haven't come across even their reflection for years on end? 8 years is a long time to get rid of someone, even if they managed to touch the deepest corners of your heart. She must have felt, 'Hell! I don't even know this dude's name, what am I even doing with my life?'

But only now have I realised, Tara never really waited for Don. She moved on, from Calcutta to Delhi, from a relationship to single hood, from parties to enjoying her own company - remember the scene where she cuts into a cake and has a mouthful, or when she refuses a guy on the ship and gets back home to dance in her own company? she's happy with whatever Corsica and Don left her with. She doesn't really want him back. And because she's felt that connection with him, she's not going to settle for anything less just for the sake of it. She'd rather enjoy her solitude.

And the second time it happens? When she's known Ved and disliked him. been misbehaved with, and has had her heartbroken!!

Let's go back to Jab We Met for that to how Geet speaks of Anshuman and how madly she's in love with him. You assume Anshuman to be the best kind of man out there. But is he?

Or Rockstar- how Heer shrugs of her illness and transforms into a different being when she's around Jordan. But, Jordan may well be the most flawed "hero' our films have ever produced.

Or Highway - where veera wants her life with mahabir a goon rather than grand life in delhi married to most rich people..

The women in Imtiaz Ali's films love their men because loving them makes these women happy. It isn't a selfish give-and-take process. It's more like, "I  love you because it makes me feel good. It's not you, it's me"

And if not for Tara's love, Don would still have remained Ved; perhaps that's why he bows down to her in the end-to her love. If not jeet may be aditya would have never been out of his depression. If not veera mahavir would have never known that love is possible. N well what would jordan be without heer!?
