In seek of a safe harbour
All of us experience two kinds of love in our lives.
One where you are consumed by the other person, where you feel highs and lows like never before. And one where the love is smooth and subtle, you feel safe and calm and not like drowning.
And both of them are equally important because that's when you realize who you truly are. Because the thing is all that passion is well and good until you are crying yourself to sleep every alternate night because you feel too much. It is good when you feel the most alive and happiest you have ever been but needy and desperate at the same time too. After all, who wants to always keep wondering if their love is reciprocated or not?
Once upon a time, I believed that this is the kind of love I want. The one where I wouldn't ever want to stop loving, where I would wanted to be ruined forever. It seemed like a fairytale-kinda story. Boy meets girl, girl meets boy. They fall madly in love and even after years being apart, still love each other crazy They make each other crazy and experience feelings too intensely, But no, love shouldn't feel like your heart breaking at every time. It shouldn't make you feel insecure or doubtful. Love doesn't make you feel desperate or turns you into the worst version of yourself, it comforts you and holds you when you are sad.
So, choose the love which would make you feel safe and secure. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean that you have to settle down and be with a person you aren't truly in love with. Because you can still be crazy about each other without feeling like you are the worst version of yourself.
You can still love without feeling like this is going to be the last time so wouldn't you choose this? A love which makes you feel light and happy and safe but just a smidge of crazy of the same time?
